Trout arrive for Springburn Fishing Loch

The main loch plus new fishing loch were stocked with rainbow trout last night ready for the start of the summer season.  If you would like to go fishing while on holiday at Springburn just pop in at the reception and book your day’s fly fishing.  Cost per day is £10  with a bag limit of 2.   Situated at the north side of the north is a picnic table where you can relax and have your lunch.

Ospreys visit Springburn loch

Today the ospreys were spotted from the kestrel cabin window soaring  above the loch in the beautiful spring sunshine hoping to catch a rainbow trout.   They fly down the Pluscarden glen past the osprey cabin  as they have done for the last 25 years.

When Williams family were on holiday last week  they spotted 16 different types of birds while out walking  around Springburn.

No matter what time of day or year  there is always something different to be seen while on holiday at Springburn near the moray coast.

Walks around Springburn

Spring Walks

At the moment the wild cherry blossom is in full bloom on the track beside the burn. Further on aconites and primroses can be seen on the rhododendron walk.

The heron is busy catching frog spawn on the loch while the ducks are starting to pair up.

No matter what time of year you spend a holiday here  there is always something different to be seen while out walking on Springburn.

Things to be looking out for next month.

The osprey usually visits  to go fishing on the loch.  The young deer are due to be born.  A fawn  was once seen being born in the garden at the kestrel cabin by the Robinson family.

The rhododendrons will be in full bloom.  The most important event will be the arrival of Charlie the Highland Cow calf.  We are busy preparing the field for him at the moment.

Dog friendly gardens at Springburn

A new wooden fence has been erected around the garden at the kestrel cabin.  This makes it safer for children and dogs to play in and yet you can still watch the wild ducks on the lochan in the wood from the kitchen window.

We have had a busy season so far with a family from as far as Orkney down to visitors from Northampton.  Families with dogs have remarked about the new enclosed garden.
